Choosing Hero Appreciation Week
Mid-September was pretty typical; Dave (our General Manager) and I were discussing what the store would be doing for the upcoming month. We’ve kept ourselves pretty busy with credit union events, and the Day of Service over the last few months. We got to the subject of doing something different, and were at a loss. Hope On Wheels was coming to an end, everyone was freaking out about the shenanigans in DC, and no one really wanted to cosponsor an event with us. That was pretty much how the conversation ended.
I gave it a couple days, and asked Dave if he had come up with anything. He had. “We’re going to do a Military and 1st Responder appreciation event at the end of the October.” Of course my next question was, “What is that going to entail?”
I knew this wasn’t going to be just a special price event, or a $10 gift card. Dave and I were both Military, but his answer surprised me none the less. “We’re going to give away $50 meal gift cards, and they’re good at a lot of restaurants.”
Turns out the cards are good at 46 restaurants in the Albuquerque area and 18,000 across the country. That means you get a wide choice of what to eat, and you’ll still be able to use it if you’re taking a trip soon.
What was really awesome though was Dave’s closing comment. “We might sell some cars off of it, and we might not. We’re going to do it anyway, it’s important.”
So, Military members (active and retired) and First Responders bring your ID and come get a meal on us. Event starts Friday October 25th, and closes Sunday November 3rd of 2013.
