New Leadership with Flip Torrez: Larry H. Miller Southwest Hyundai

Here at Larry H. Miller Southwest Hyundai we recently welcomed a new General Manager, Flip Torrez. Flip came here with a vision and passion for our store and we are looking forward to the places he will take us!

We sat down with Flip and asked him some questions so we could get to know the man behind the position.

• I have been with Hyundai 5 months

• I have worked for Larry H. Miller for a total of 8 years

What was your first job with Larry H. Miller?

•  My 1st position with LHM was as a finance manager for Brad Francis Ford

If you could pick any vehicle off the lot, what would it be? Why?

•  The Hyundai Genesis, for its overall style. It just looks gangsta. 

When did your passion for Hyundai begin?

•  The day I stepped on the lot, and realized this is home.

Why would you pick a Hyundai over another brand?

•  The overall cost of ownership. It’s just a smart buy.

What is your favorite road trip destination?

•  San Antonio, I have 5 children and it’s about a 10 hour trip 2 hours per kid is just about right.

What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

•  Spend time with my family, while sneaking in the occasional round of golf.

If you could vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go?

• Greece, we have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit many different cultures, but Greece would be next on our list.

Larry H Miller Day of Service

On Friday, April 25, Larry H Miller Southwest Hyundai joined the other 4 Larry H. Miller dealerships in Albuquerque to volunteer our time at the Boys and Girl Club of Central NM in Rio Rancho in celebration of Larry H Miller Day of Service. This is the 5th year of the Larry H. Miller Day of Service and it’s an annual event in honor of the late Larry H. Miller on his birthday. 

Larry H Miller passed away in 2009 and the company still holds tight his support in giving back in the communities where he did business. His philosophy was to “Go about doing good until there is too much good in the world.”  

We spent the day repainting the gym, entry way, planted new trees, flowers, vegetable garden, cemented a new flag pole, and provided them with 4 large umbrella shades for those summer months.

Remember our Veloster Diary? We are continuing our story as our Veloster reaches a big milestone...

Today I turned 2000 miles, It feels great to know that I have a loving family that is enjoying me as much as I am enjoying them. The "Miso" is always yelling at my friends that come to wash the dust off my tires. It is funny that he yells and runs after them with some very interesting words for them. But in the evening, my four legged friends come and keep me company. Now that it is cold, I see the "little monsters" (the little boys Jeremy and Leo) looking out the window every morning as they play with the phone. I can see their excitement when the command from BlueLink come to me to start every morning. I hear them when they get in me and ask if I am connected to the Internet because I am warm and ready to go on these cold January mornings. I am happy and feel loved with my car washes and covered parking when the head of the house (the monsters call her Momma) takes me to work. I do not think I can ask for more than this. I am looking forward to what the year holds.

P.S.
I think my name is Velota-speed, every time we see "Miso's" family, their "Homer" calls me this.
