LHM Charities: New Mexico

Our Larry H Miller dealerships group here in New Mexico recently had the privilege to visit 4 local organizations and give them a donation for their work in our community.  We were all honored as we visited each one. Read about these great organizations below:

El Ranchito de Los Ninos

"El Ranchito de Los Ninos - $5,000 grant towards the educational needs for their foster children.  They currently house a total of 13 children between the ages of 2 to 18.  Their mission is to keep brothers and sisters together, and to give siblings a stable a loving home.  They are the only foster home in the State of NM who keeps sibling groups together.  One story really hit my heart about 4 brothers who were found living in a tent.  The oldest, only 3 years old, was caring for his siblings and finding them food to eat.  They have now been at this home for about a year and are all doing very well.  www.elranchitonm.org

Basket of Hope

Basket of Hope - $5,000 towards gift baskets for long term pediatric patients.  The basket are filled with age-appropriate and gender specific toys, games, books, crafts, movies, pre-loaded MP3 players, and much more.  The basket also contain personalized ‘capes of hope’ and handmade blankets.  www.basketofhope.org

Youth Development Inc.

Youth Development Inc. NM- $5,000 towards the Computer Clubhouse.  YDI’s computer clubhouse is designed to give youth ages 8-18 access to computer technology.  Mentors work with each individual to explore ideas, nurture their talents, and build self-esteem through the use of technology.  The clubhouse is equipped with computers including a robotics computer that contains several computer programs and a music and recording studio.  Participants create computer generated art and music, build their own robots, design web pages, and program new computer games.  They are strong supporters of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).  YDI NM works with youth that come from low income families and provide them a safer alternative to spend their day while encouraging educational growth.   www.ydinm.org

PB&J Family Services

PB&J Family Services - $3,000  to help with transportation of families to the therapeutic preschool in Bernalillo.   The facility in Bernalillo, NM assists the most vulnerable, neediest, and isolated families to receive services that otherwise are not accessible to them.  The therapeutic preschool program is an intense, interactive parenting education program designed to provide service for children up to five years old and their parents.  PB&J provides a variety of programs designed to train, educate, nurture and strengthen at-risk families, including: parenting education, life skills training for jailed parents, health education, and in-home training and education for families in which one or both parents have developmental disabilities.  The organization serves over 1,400 families every year.  www.pbjfamilyservices.org

A special thank you to Gail and Greg Miller for helping us reach out to our community in such a wonderful way. We are truly grateful to be part of the LHM family and part of this great Albuquerque community."

2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The next generation of hybrid is here at Southwest Hyundai and it isn't moms hybrid. It is the 2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid. It is the first non-plug-in hybrid with next-generation lithium polymer battery technology.

"Durability tested to 300,000 plus miles, its safe to say that you might never even need the warranty on Hyundais hybrid system components, but if you do they're covered under our industry leading powertrain warranty anyway. This revolutionary hybrid drive system can even operate in electric vehicle modes at speeds over 70 mph. The transfer from electric to gasoline power (and back) is almost seamless with the efficient Atkinson cycle engine, transmission housed electric traction motor, and hybrid starter generator constantly monitored by Hyundais advanced hybrid drive oversight system.
The Sonata automatically chooses from only electric, only gasoline motor, or the 200 horsepower dual drive mode to meet your driving needs as the moment dictates. That means that when you need power, its there in spades. When you don't, your Sonata sips gas like a connoisseur enjoying a fine glass of wine. No need to worry about your hybrid battery running low either. Almost everything you do charges it with regenerative braking, regenerative coasting, and engine momentum charging."

Yes, we know, you are also looking for the bells and whistles. Don't worry, the Sonata Hybrid has those too.
  • Radio: AM/FM/SiriusXM/CD/MP3
  • Audio System -inc: iPod/USB and auxiliary inputs, 6 speakers (2 front-door-mounted, 2 tweeters, and 2 rear - 104 watts),

2014 Hyundai Tucson

The 2014 Hyundai Tucson, on sale here at Southwest Hyundai, delivers a sporty new engine and a unique style to the small SUV family. For 2014, Hyundai has refreshed the affordable and capable Tucson inside and out, and the result is the best looking, most versatile and best performing Tucson in it's history.

One of the most noticeable changes for the 2014 Hyundai Tucson is the updated exterior design. New projector headlamps with LED accents give the nose of the Tucson a more distinctive and recognizable style. The tail lamps are now full LED units that look great and shine brighter for improved safety. Models with the available panoramic sunroof now feature roof rails, and there are new standard 17-inch alloy and available 18-inch alloy wheel designs.

Another big change is one you can’t see, but will definitely feel. The 2014 Tucson offers a pair of new engines. The first is a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 2.0-liter “Nu” four-cylinder that produces 164 hp and 151 lb/ft of torque while returning an EPA-estimated 29 mpg highway. Providing even more performance and power is a Hyundai 2.4-liter “Theta II” GDI four-cylinder engine. Power has been increased to 182 (up six hp from last year) and torque has increased to 177 lb/ft (up nine lb/ft). When equipped with the 2.4-liter engine, the Tucson is more powerful than the Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester, all while maintaining highway fuel economy EPA-estimated at 28 mpg.

The 2014 model year also brings plenty of enhancements to the roomy cabin:
  • 60/40-split rear seats now feature a two-stage reclining feature to improve passenger comfort
  • Standard Bluetooth hands-free phone
  • Blue Link® infotainment and connectivity
  • Hyundai Assurance Connected Care emergency and convenience services (now standard in the Tucson Limited),
  • New 4.3-inch LCD touch-screen with backup camera

Whether you are taking the kids to school, loading up a ton of supplies for a DIY project, going on a road trip with some friends or just making the commute to work, the 2014 Hyundai Tucson will get you there in style and comfort.

Larry H Miller Day of Service

On Friday, April 25, Larry H Miller Southwest Hyundai joined the other 4 Larry H. Miller dealerships in Albuquerque to volunteer our time at the Boys and Girl Club of Central NM in Rio Rancho in celebration of Larry H Miller Day of Service. This is the 5th year of the Larry H. Miller Day of Service and it’s an annual event in honor of the late Larry H. Miller on his birthday.

Larry H Miller passed away in 2009 and the company still holds tight his support in giving back in the communities where he did business. His philosophy was to “Go about doing good until there is too much good in the world.”
We spent the day repainting the gym, entry way, planted new trees, flowers, vegetable garden, cemented a new flag pole, and provided them with 4 large umbrella shades for those summer months.

Vehicle Maintenance for Spring

Ah Spring. We have been waiting for you. Flowers bloom and windows open to let in the warm air, and your vehicle is still in winter mode. Wait, what? Just like your Spring cleaning, your vehicle also needs to change over. Larry H Miller Southwest Hyundai wants to make sure you are ready for the warmer weather. We have listed some basic tips to help you maintain your vehicle and be ready for the heat:

  • Fluids: Oil, wiper, brake, and antifreeze should all be checked and filled.
  • Tires: Check for those bald spots or any bulges that may have occurred. Check with your owner’s manual for the proper tire pressure.
  • Wipers: Have fluids filled and if they need some replacing, invest in quality wipers to keep your sight clear on the roads.
  • Battery: Check your battery cables for proper use. Don’t be stuck with a dead battery and no cables for yourself or a neighbor.
  • Head and Brake lights: Do a safety check to make sure your lights are not dim or dead.

Not sure how to take care of these by yourself? We can help you out. We even have some service coupons for you to use on your visit. Let our technicians diagnose your car the first time with our expert service and repair your car quickly with an extensive Hyundai auto parts department to get you back on the road quickly.
