One of the most noticeable changes for the 2014 Hyundai Tucson is the updated exterior design. New projector headlamps with LED accents give the nose of the Tucson a more distinctive and recognizable style. The tail lamps are now full LED units that look great and shine brighter for improved safety. Models with the available panoramic sunroof now feature roof rails, and there are new standard 17-inch alloy and available 18-inch alloy wheel designs.
Another big change is one you can’t see, but will definitely feel. The 2014 Tucson offers a pair of new engines. The first is a Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) 2.0-liter “Nu” four-cylinder that produces 164 hp and 151 lb/ft of torque while returning an EPA-estimated 29 mpg highway. Providing even more performance and power is a Hyundai 2.4-liter “Theta II” GDI four-cylinder engine. Power has been increased to 182 (up six hp from last year) and torque has increased to 177 lb/ft (up nine lb/ft). When equipped with the 2.4-liter engine, the Tucson is more powerful than the Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Mazda CX-5 and Subaru Forester, all while maintaining highway fuel economy EPA-estimated at 28 mpg.
The 2014 model year also brings plenty of enhancements to the roomy cabin:
- 60/40-split rear seats now feature a two-stage reclining feature to improve passenger comfort
- Standard Bluetooth hands-free phone
- Blue Link® infotainment and connectivity
- Hyundai Assurance Connected Care emergency and convenience services (now standard in the Tucson Limited),
- New 4.3-inch LCD touch-screen with backup camera
Whether you are taking the kids to school, loading up a ton of supplies for a DIY project, going on a road trip with some friends or just making the commute to work, the 2014 Hyundai Tucson will get you there in style and comfort.
